• The medication will still provide some relief if taken at later stages, but may not be as effective.

To use piroxicam long-term:

• Take 20 mg every 24 hours.
• Alternatively, take 10 mg every 12 hours.
• Benefits will increase for the first 7 to 12 days of daily use.

In both cases:

• Avoid laying down for at least 10 minutes after taking Feldene.
• Take each dose with a full glass of fluid.
• Taking each dose with food, milk or antacids may prevent stomach upset.

Pain relief and inflammation reduction typically starts within 15 to 30 minutes, peaking after about 1 hour. If using the medication long term, benefits will continue to improve for up to 12 days; patients taking piroxicam to treat chronic conditions should evaluate effectiveness after two weeks of use.

Treatment may continue for as along as it provides benefit and no adverse effects are developing.
